Until now, the only way to capture, store, and effectively retain constantly growing amounts of enterprise data was to add more disk space to the storage infrastructure, an approach that can quickly become cost-prohibitive as information volumes continue to grow and capital budgets for infrastructure do not. In this IBM® Redbooks® publication, we introduce data deduplication, which has emerged as a key technology in dramatically reducing the amount of, and therefore the cost associated with storing, large amounts of data. Deduplication is the art of intelligently reducing storage needs through the elimination of redundant data so that only one instance of a data set is actually stored. Ded...

Cognitive processes in teams have been a valuable arena for team researchers to explore. Team cognition research advances and informs a variety of disciplines, including cognitive and social sciences, engineering, military science, organizational science, human factors, medicine, and communications. There has been a great deal of progress in the team cognition literature, yet the field is still in its early stages of maturity. There is much more to be gained from the field’s insights and there is a need to unite the diverse array of scholarly ideas that permeate the field. This movement will serve to organize the research and ideas that have surfaced in the field, thereby making them more accessible to different disciplines while at the same time, motivating continued progress in the field. This book aims to be a step in this direction and acts as a forum for leading scholars to share their ideas, theories, models, and conceptions about what matters and where more attention is needed in the field of team cognition.
Keter is a close reading of fifty relatively brief Jewish texts, tracing the motif of divine coronation from Jewish esoteric writings of late antiquity to the Zohar, written in thirteenth-century Spain. In the course of this investigation Arthur Green draws a wide arc including Talmudic, Midrashic, liturgical, Merkavah, German Hasidic, and Kabbalistic works, showing through this single theme the spectrum of devotional, mystical, and magical views held by various circles of Jews over the course of a millennium or more. The first portion of the work deals with late antiquity, emphasizing the close relationship between texts of what is often depicted as "normative" Judaism and their mystical/ma...

On October 6, 1973, Israel's Northern Command was surprised by the thunder of cannon fire and the sight of dense, black smoke. A Syrian force of 1,400 tanks supported by artillery and air power had attacked from the north while the Egyptian military invaded the Sinai Peninsula in the south. Although Israel ultimately prevailed, the Yom Kippur War (or Ramadan War, as it is known in Arab countries) shattered the illusion of Israeli invincibility. Inside Israel's Command offers a definitive history of the northern theater of this key conflict. Led by Israel's foremost scholar of the war, Dani Asher, the contributors--Major General Yitzhak Hofi, Major General Uri Simchoni, Brigadier General Avra...
