Druga – po „My, trans” – książka znanego dziennikarza i aktywisty Piotra Jaconia, dotycząca sytuacji osób transpłciowych.

This two-volume-set (LNCS 8384 and 8385) constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 10th International Conference of Parallel Processing and Applied Mathematics, PPAM 2013, held in Warsaw, Poland, in September 2013. The 143 revised full papers presented in both volumes were carefully reviewed and selected from numerous submissions. The papers cover important fields of parallel/distributed/cloud computing and applied mathematics, such as numerical algorithms and parallel scientific computing; parallel non-numerical algorithms; tools and environments for parallel/distributed/cloud computing; applications of parallel computing; applied mathematics, evolutionary computing and metaheuristics.
Progress in Medicinal Chemistry, Volume 58, provides a review of eclectic developments in medicinal chemistry, with each chapter written by an international board of authors. Topics covered in this new release include Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Covalent-binding Drugs, Natural Product Drug Delivery - A Special Challenge?, and SMN2 gene splicing modifier, and more.
The population explosion that began in the 1960s has been accompanied by a decrease in the quality of the natural environment, e.g. pollution of the air, water and soil with essential and toxic trace elements. Numerous poisonings of people and animals with highly toxic anthropogenic Hg and Cd in the 20th century prompted the creation of the abiotic environment, mainly in developed countries. However, the system is insufficient for long-term exposure to low concentrations of various substances that are mainly ingested through food and water. This problem could be addressed by the monitoring of sentinels – organisms that accumulate trace elements and as such reflect the rate and degree of environmental pollution. Usually these are long-lived vertebrates – herbivorous, omnivorous and carnivorous birds and mammals, especially game species. This book describes the responses of the sentinels most commonly used in ecotoxicological studies to 17 trace elements.
