Non-destructive Materials Characterization and Evaluation
This book is devoted to non-destructive materials characterization (NDMC) using different non-destructive evaluation techniques. It presents theoretical basis, physical understanding, and technological developments in the field of NDMC with suitable examples for engineering and materials science applications. It is written for engineers and researchers in R&D, design, production, quality assurance, and non-destructive testing and evaluation. The relevance of NDMC is to achieve higher reliability, safety, and productivity for monitoring production processes and also for in-service inspections for detection of degradations, which are often precursors of macro-defects and failure of components. Twelve Stolen Stories
These twelve fictional short stories are stolen from my own life. They are recollections of events coupled with imagination, making sense of an ambiguity called life was the main motivation to pen them down. My search for engaging stories led me to writing them myself as I realised that I have something unique to tell. I was compelled to write but I was not sure if I could captivate an audience with my work. So, first I started showing them to my friends and well-wishers, encouraged by their response I published some of them to a neutral audience. I kept on writing until I had a several stories in my collection. A dozen always sounded good to my ears, so I have chosen that many for my first book. I welcome you to Twelve Stolen Stories.

Knowledge Systems of Societies for Adaptation and Mitigation of Impacts of Climate Change
Climate change is broadly recognized as a key environmental issue affecting social and ecological systems worldwide. At the Cancun summit of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change’s 16th Conference, the parties jointly agreed that the vulnerable groups particularly in developing countries and whose livelihood is based on land use practices are the most common victims as in most cases their activities are shaped by the climate. Therefore, solving the climate dilemma through mitigation processes and scientific research is an ethical concern. Thus combining the knowledge systems of the societies and scientific evidences can greatly assist in the creation of coping mechanisms for sustainable development in a situation of changing climate. International Humboldt Kolleg focusing on “knowledge systems of societies and Climate Change” was organized at ISEC. This event was of unique importance, as the year 2011-12 was celebrated as the 60th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between India and Germany with the motto "Germany and India - Infinite Opportunities."
