Engaging Theology

Theology today is faced with increasing amounts of religious and theological pluralism. What is distinctive about Christian theology? Why do these ideas matter? And the biggest question of all: Who cares? Key aspects of orthodox theology are seen as speculative and irrelevant to "authentic" Christianity and to personal spirituality. While not succumbing to the pragmatism of the age, this book shows that key elements of Christian theology ground an integrated worldview and are essential for spiritual formation. Engaging Theology is an introductory theology textbook that grounds a treatment of standard systematic topics in the wider context of life and practice and shows the relevance of each ...

Mr. George Stillman (b.ca1654-1728) was probably born at Steeple Ashton, Wiltshire, England. Previous research indicates that Mr. George Stillman was a descendant of the Styleman family of Steeple Ashton. He emigrated to the colonies and settled first at Hadley, Mass. in 1690 or earlier. He was a widower and left sons George and Samuel in England. His first wife (1) Lady Jane Pickering died at sea. He married (2) Rebecca Smith, at Hadley. They moved to Wethersfield, Connecticut at the time of King Phillip's War. He established his son John in his mercantile business, gave Benjamin a Yale education, gave Nathaniel a homestead and helped his daughters. His eldest son George received 100 pounds plus previous gifts. Dr. George Stillman (1679-1760) was born in England and was trained a tailor. But he also studied medicine and became a doctor. He married Deborah Crandall at Westerly, Rhode Island in 1706. Several generations of descendants are given.

Gun Shy

Through the shadows Gordon saw the tall man, a head taller than anyone else on the street. Lamplight spilling from the store fronts made the gunslinger’s eyes bright yellow as they settled on him. Gordon had thought about it over a hundred campfires. He had known it would happen sooner or later -- that he would be facing this man who was standing now in the center of the street. That he would reach for his gun and beat the fastest draw in the territory to the kill!

In March 2019, the Viking Sky cruise ship was struck by a bomb cyclone in the North Atlantic. Rocked by 50-foot swells and 40-knot gales, the ship lost power and began to drift straight toward the notoriously dangerous Hustadvika coast in Norway. This is the suspenseful, harrowing, funny, touching story by one passenger who contemplated death aboard that ship. Chaney Kwak is a travel writer used to all sorts of mishaps on the road, but this is a first even for him: trapped on the battered cruise ship, he stuffs his passport into his underwear just in case his body has to be identified. As the massive cruise ship sways in surging waves, Kwak holds on and watches news of the impending disaster...
