Legal Pluralism in Indonesia
With the revival of Islamic law and adat (customary) law in the country, this book investigates the history and phenomenon of legal pluralism in Indonesia. It looks at how the ideal of modernity in Indonesia has been characterized by a state-driven effort in the post-colonial era to make the institution of law an inseparable part of national development. The book focuses on contemporary research on tourism, gastronomy, and tourist destinations presented at the 3rd Tourism Gastronomy and Destination International Conference (TGDIC 2021). It serves as a platform for knowledge and experience sharing and invites tourism scholars, practitioners, decision-makers, and stakeholders from all parts of society and from various regions of the world to share their knowledge, experience, concepts, examples of good practice, and critical analysis with their international peers. It offers constructive suggestions regarding how Indonesian religion can play a significant role within the framework of Pancasila, Indonesia's national ideology. Based on a Christian-Muslim dialogue, it is only within the realm of civil society that Indonesian religion will be able to promote the ideas of democracy, tolerance, and human rights in Indonesian public affairs. In short, far from being anti-pluralist, Indonesian religion evolves as a liberating force in the life of society, nation, and state.
