Don't Wake Up George Brown!

Alan Jones shares his reminiscences of growing up in South Liverpool during the forties and fifties in the aftermath of the Second World War - the most destructive war the world has ever known. It was a time of austerity, of rationing, but also a time when the extended family was still largely in existence. As part of an extended family, he recalls how he spent as much time with his grandmother as he did with his parents, and given she had brought up nine children, it was a family of sizeable proportions. It was a time when children had much more freedom to roam the streets and when corporal punishment was woven into the fabric of school life.

Alan is a courageous man whose heart ticks over like a Formula One racecar. Racing is his way of life and the language he speaks when communicating with others. He is a proud champion, father and role model whom Australia adores. The influence of a sporting champion is astonishing and a sweet sight to witness. Alan's presence in the sport is a gift to those who are growing up as he passes on that knowledge about the challenges which exist for drivers, teams and fans of the sport. Every individual journey within this autobiography is unique and special. May every pair of eyes enjoy the stories that have been unlocked and told.

This book is about the performance theatrical Mind Reading and Mentalism. It is written by a professional performer for professional performers. Whilst it contains what could be considered as 'effects' or 'routines' the core of this book is about the philosophy and psychology of performance. Kenton Knepper has said of this book ... "I see your work as an asset to many sincere performers. Your approach is not for the mildly curious, nor should it be."" To re-interate 'this is not for the mildly curious' and is aimed at the sincere performer. Alan Jones presents a fascinating lecture giving valuable ideas about magic and performance relating to his interests and training in NLP and education. Alan's presentation is humorous, eye opening and well worth every magician's attention. I thoroughly enjoyed it."" - Eugene Burger "I really enjoyed reading your book. The first card effect is Gangbusters. The Theory is Great Too" - Jeff McBride

Few names in international motorsport are treated with the same reverence as Alan Jones. When he speaks, they listen. He is one of only two Australians to win the Formula One World Drivers' Championship, and the first driver to do it for the now famous Williams team. His efforts brought Formula One to Australian TV screens, and today he is the voice of Formula One on Network Ten and a board member of the Australian Grand Prix. He is also a Formula One Steward at a couple of Grands Prix a season.

Jennifer Ormiston, a lively and controversial local radio presenter, is found dead in an antique bath in her upmarket flat, an apparent suicide. Three weeks earlier, we meet a number of very different characters, all of whom are connected in some way to Jennifer Ormiston: the mother of a traumatised child, her husband and brother-in-law, both respected professionals, a newly-appointed Catholic priest and a woman with a troubled past, recovering in a secure psychiatric hospital. A series of threatening letters, dark memories from the past and fraught relationships play their part in the inquiry by Detective Sergeant Tim Laughland into a mysterious disappearance and what turns out to be the murder of Jennifer Ormiston, all the while navigating his own relationship with his on-off partner and fellow officer. As the possible suspects mount up, Laughland and his superior officer are plunged into a fast-moving investigation, the conclusion of which is both shocking and unexpected.
