Preventing Radicalisation and Terrorism in Europe
Within the general framework of the European TRIVALENT project, the comparative analysis presented here focuses, alongside policy measures taken at EU level, on counter-terrorism and counter-radicalisation policies implemented by five European countries; namely, Belgium, France, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom. These case studies with their peculiarities and differences offer insights into the role of long-term and structural factors in defining counter-terrorism and counter-radicalisation policies, and highlight the influence that specific occurrences can have. The volume analyses different types of public policies, including repressive, preventive, legal and administrative measures, together with the role of civil society in preventing and mitigating radicalisation processes. The book offers an updated and critical assessment of the main anti-terrorism and anti-radicalisation policies of the five aforementioned countries, and their strengths and weaknesses, identifying possible evolutionary lines and proposing a series of recommendations.

The world of text mining is simultaneously a minefield and a gold mine. It is an exciting application field and an area of scientific research that is currently under rapid development. Seventh Framework Programme for Research
The Framework Programme is the EU's main instrument for funding research and development, and each programme currently runs for five years. The Committee's report considers the European Commission's proposal for the next framework programme (the seventh programme or 'FP7') which it is proposed should run for a period of seven years (from 2007 to 2013). The new programme has objectives to support co-operation between industry and universities, to promote creativity through funding 'frontier' research teams and the establishment of a European Research Council, to increase training and careers development in research, and to strengthen research and innovation capacity in EU member states. Nine high level themes are proposed for EU action in relation to energy issues; environment and climate change; food, agriculture and biotechnology; health; information and communication technologies; nanotechnology and new production technologies; socio-economic sciences and the humanities; space and security research; transport and aeronautics. It addition, two themes are covered by the Euratom Framework Programme, relating to fusion energy research, and to nuclear fission and radiation protection.

Lo scopo del libro è quello di presentare i risultati di una survey che ha visto coinvolti i membri di alcune Law Enforcement Agency europee e un gruppo di esperti in materia di terrorismo e radicalizzazione che sono stati interrogati sul presente e il futuro della radicalizzazione violenta in Europa. Questa ricerca è stata condotta nell’ambito del progetto TRIVALENT. Dopo una descrizione del background teorico della ricerca e della metodologia utilizzata, saranno presentati i risultati delle interviste qualitative e del questionario Delphi.
