Moses Collins (1785-1858) was born in South Carolina but pioneered Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. In 1810, he married Mrs. Elizabeth Smith Houpt, who had one son. They had ten children. Descendants lived in Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Arkansas, Texas, Michigan and elsewhere.

Don't Tell Me the Bible Says That
For nearly 30 years, Alvin Collins taught Bible courses at colleges and universities. All students were required to take nine semester hours in the Department of Christianity, including Old Testament. The majority of the answers recounted in this book are gleaned from tests administered in basic Old Testament courses, although many come from advanced courses. Collins exams consisted of identification and definition questions, so to prepare his classes for these tests, and to acquaint them with the Old Testament, he would list biblical terms and announce that students should become familiar with each word's meaning and significance. Then, while grading the exams, he would jot down amusing answers the students gave. This book presents questions and then gives answers copied from student's papers, preserving the spelling and punctuation -- or lack there of -- exactly as they appeared on tests. The result is dozens of humorous answers that will cause the reader to chuckle and learn more about the Bible at the same time. Following each questions and accompanying answers is a summary of the expected response, based on class discussions and additional information.
