Lipid Oxidation Products
This book describes the photooxidation and autoxidation of the lipid components of phototrophic organisms. These two processes, which act intensively during the senescence of phototrophs, have been relatively neglected in the relevant literature. The text details the mechanisms involved in type-II photosensitized oxidation and free radical oxidation (autoxidation) of the main unsaturated lipids, with a close focus on the specificity of the oxidation products formed and their potential to serve as tracers of these processes. It then discusses the effects of temperature and solar irradiance on the efficiency of type-II photooxidation processes, and looks at the possibility of photooxidative damage transferring into non-phototrophic material. The book ends with a detailed description of potential interactions between biotic and abiotic degradation processes, which, although very complex, must absolutely be factored in when studying the fate of organic matter in the environment.

D’ençà de la recuperació de la democràcia han estat nombrosíssims els intents de trobar una identitat de poble, comarca i país a través de l’estudi històric de la vida de les comunitats que configuren la Ribera del Xúquer, a tots els nivells, i tant des de l’àmbit universitari com també des del món dels cronistes, l’erudició local o els joves investigadors, implicats en els nous corrents historiogràfics europeus, amb la microhistòria i la història local com a bandera. Organitzats al voltant d’un bon grapat d’institucions i trobades científiques diverses, nombrosos investigadors s’hi han interessat i han deixat els fruits de la seua recerca en forma de publicacions en articles de revistes, actes de congressos, capítols de llibres i monografies, i fins i tot en una obra monumental de síntesi. Els tretze treballs que s’apleguen en aquest volum, de temàtica diversa i abraçant des de l’edat mitjana fins el segle XX, són una mostra més del vigor amb que continua fent-se història de la comarca valenciana vertebrada entorn del riu Xúquer.
