The Wilhelm and Krieg Families of Huntington County, Indiana
Johannes Wilhelm, son of Johannes Wilhelm and Katharina Buchert, was born 27 Aug 1785 in Legelshurst, Baden, Germany. He married Maria Krieg, daughter of Jacob Krieg and Maria Herzog, on 16 Nov 1802. They had 7 children. Johannes died 11 Apr 1841 in Bolzhurst, Baden, Germany. Maria immigrated to Huntington County, Indiana after Johannes death. She died 27 Aug 1864 in Huntington County, Indiana. Their descendants have lived in Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, and other areas in the United States.

Lines of Battle
Arranged in chronological order, this collection of some 100 letters from soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines offers a very personal view of World War II and a sense of immediacy that is remarkable. The correspondence ranges from a GI's final message, written from Bataan, to a private's advice to his unexpectedly drafted father; from a general's letter of condolence to journalist Ernie Pyle's widow to a marine's revelation to his mother that he lost a leg in battle; from an airman's description of the mercy-killing of a comrade trapped in a burning plane to a soldier's reaction to the news of the A-bombings. Several letters are by well-known figures (William Halsey, George Patton, John Kennedy, among them), but these obviously were included for the eloquence of emotion expressed rather than because of the writer's renown.
The Groff Book
Hans Groff (ca.1665-1726), probably a German or Swiss immigrant, lived in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, and married widow Anna Lichti Mier. Anna had been married to a Lichti first, then a Mier, then Hans Groff, and after his death, married Peter Leman. Descendants and relatives of Hans Groff lived in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, New York and elsewhere. Some descendants immigrated to Ontario and elsewhere in Canada. Includes Barr (Bar, Bare, Bear), Dohner, Eshleman, Herr, Kendig, Rohrer and related family.
