La maquina fue adoptada como epicentro de las practicas artisticas del siglo XX, esta fusion con lo popular creo la ecuacion arte=vida; lo corporal se transformo en una manera de reflexionar sobre las repercusiones que la tecnica infligia en el cuerpo y su papel en la sociedad. Tras la 2 GM la corporeidad quedo oculta hasta que ciertos sectores dejaron de aceptar un contenido cultural desideologizado. Llegamos a 1968, ano que desperto la conciencia social contra el totalitarismo y que el cuerpo recupero su categoria. La performance se transformo en el lenguaje mas apropiado para representar los nuevos valores consolidandose un concepto de arte sociologico que defendia la integracion del cuerpo en el proceso creativo, el Body Art. Sin embargo, ciertos artistas, discrepando con una exploracion del cuerpo de raigambre materialista, adoptaron elementos configuradores de la corporeidad tales como vestidos, complementos y objetos de diversa naturaleza. The book is divided into three parts, each reflecting a distinct phase of Canada's relations with the Americas. Part 1 traces Canada's minimal relations from the beginning of the century until the Trudeau years. Part 2 examines the Trudeau era when, partly propelled by nationalism, Canada sought a more independent role in its relations with Latin America.
