Lioness of the Lowlands

"Yesterday, in a case of mistaken identity, a demon murdered Salem's best friend. Today, that demon will try to kill her. Tomorrow, she intends to return the favor. Transported to a place where the demon reigns, Salem must fight for her life and the lives of her friends. Chosen fifty generations before her birth, Salem can hardly grasp the fate that demands she confront evil incarnate face-to-face. If she survives the battle, the demon's power will be destroyed and the enchantment concealing her way home will be broken. If Salem wins, she doesn't know how to return to the man she's grown to love."

A Guide to the Makers of American Wooden Planes

With its initial publication in 1983, A Guide to the Makers of American Wooden Planes profoundly transformed the emphasis and direction of tool collecting. After several years of meticulous research, Thomas L. Elliott has completely redesigned, revised, and expanded this fifth edition to include entries and information accumulated since the fourth edition. The heart of this guide is the alphabetical directory of plane makers and dealers. This fifth edition now includes: 4590 biographical entries; 6160 imprint illustrations; 3030 wedge outlines; and over 3000 individual ratings for judging relative scarcity and value. Also included are sections providing insights helpful in buying and selling planes, an illustrated glossary of plane terms and styles, and an extensive bibliography for further research. This book is useful to both the beginner and the advanced collector, to historians and genealogists, and to all other with an interest in the subject.

This book recovers and recommends the core conviction of Victorian liberal theory that human beings, with the help of the state, can achieve an objective moral perfection. The first half of the book considers the diverse modern biases that have blinded us to the merit of this core conviction and weaves together disparate new scholarship (primarily in political theory and Victorian Studies) to set the stage for a reconsideration of that conviction. The second half of the book is that reconsideration outlining the various policies the Victorian liberals (John Stuart Mill and Matthew Arnold, primarily, with a half dozen other nineteenth-century British and American authors) recommended the state employ in the perfection of human beings.
