"The aesthetic qualities of a painted work of art are determined by composition, the colours used and the application method. Equally important are the support and its preparation. Preparatory layers are fundamental to the creative process and to the perception of the work: they influence the final surface texture, the paints' luminosity and the durability of a painting. In late December 2007, artist Erik K decided to do a project he'd been considering for years. He would create a dog every day during 2008. It could be a drawing, a power, a game, an essay or any other form of creative expression.Much to his own surprise, Erik stumbled across the finish line on December 31, 2008. During that year he'd created 366 dogs (it was a leap year): 315 drawings, 19 games and toys, 33 photos, 6 videos and 9 pieces of writing, occasionally combining the mediums. In "A Dog a Day: Artist's Choice Edition," Erik presents his favorite drawings from the project, which can be found at http://dogadayproject.com
