The Moulding of Ukraine
With the disintegration of the Soviet Union, a number of new states were created that had little or no claim to any previous existence. Ukraine is one of the countries that faced not only political, social and economic transformation, but also state formation and the redefinition of national identity. This book uses Ukraine as a case study in trying to trace the key moments of decision making in the course of creating a new state while shedding the legacies of "Soviet-type" statehood. The Moulding of Ukraine offers a systematic examination of competing ideological visions of statehood and discusses them against the backdrop of historical traditions in Ukraine. This well-documented and lucidly written book is the only coherent account available in English of the process of constitutional reform, offering an insight into post-Soviet Ukrainian politics. A useful addition to university course reading lists in Ukrainian studies, post-Soviet studies, post-communist democratization, comparative constitutionalism, state-building and institutional design.
Between Prometheism and Realpolitik
The Treaty of Riga of March 1921 did not signify real peace. It was soon followed by the outbreak of a Polish-Soviet cold war, which in the early 1920s threatened to reach a boiling point. One of the salient fronts on which it was fought was Ukraine and the Ukrainian question. The means by which it was waged – first by Poland, and subsequently, more successfully, by the Soviets – was by attempts to stir up centrifugal tendencies on enemy territory, leading eventually to the splitting up of the neighboring state along its national seams. Polish-Soviet rivalry over Ukraine had flared up at the Riga peace conference. In the following years both antagonists struggled to win over the sympathies of Ukrainians living on either side of the frontier River Zbrucz (Zbruch) and dispersed in various émigré centers, and the weapons employed were propaganda, diplomacy, nationalities policy, economic projects, political subterfuge, and armed irredentism. Jan Jacek Bruski's book addresses the first, very important phase of this Polish-Soviet tussle.

Później, pod redakcją prof. Krzysztofa Baczkowskiego, zostało przekształcone w rocznik, a następnie w kwartalnik. Od 2009 czasopismo ukazuje się w sposób ciągły on-line. Pismo jest związane z Instytutem Historii UJ. Wybrane zastosowania narzędzi analitycznych w naukach ekonomicznych
Opracowanie to jest efektem konferencji „Narzędzia Analityczne w Naukach Ekonomicznych” (www.nawne.pl) zorganizowanej przez Koło Naukowe Analizy Danych, przy współpracy z Kołem Naukowym Procesu Zarządzania oraz Kołem Naukowym Controllingu i Finansów. Wszystkie trzy koła działają na Wydziale Zarządzania Uniwersytetu Ekonomicznego w Krakowie. Koło Naukowe Analizy Danych działa od 2009 roku przy Katedrze Ekonometrii i Badań Operacyjnych oraz Katedrze Statystyki UEK. Wspomniana konferencja organizowana jest po raz czwarty pod patronatem Rektora UEK, Komisji Nauk Ekonomicznych i Statystyki Oddziału PAN w Krakowie oraz Polskiego Towarzystwa Statystycznego. W roku bieżącym została również objęta patronatem Komisji Nadzoru Finansowego, Ministerstwa Finansów oraz Narodowego Banku Polskiego.
The Development of Morality
80 pages. Koneczny claims that ethics is a science that deserves to be studies as all others. Ethical reactions may come from the heart but they need reason to be fruitfully employed. It is the Chinese who derive ethics from emotional assumptions. In the Latin civilization we base it on reason. Koneczny rejects the notion that morality is eternally unchangeable. It develops and he, as a historian, studied this development. It used to be acceptable to have slaves, now it is not. It used to be acceptable to have duels, now it is not. Revenge (vendetta) used to be considered a moral obligation, now it is forbidden. There is moral progress regardless whether in a particular society morality or immorality is dominant.There is no crime that would not be considered a virtue in some society, be it killing children and the aged, sexual license in honor of some deity, human sacrifices, cannibalism, polygamy, polyandry etc. Yet all develop in the direction of improvement. This requires a culture of action.
