Legal Gender Equality as a Catalyst for Convergence
The unequal treatment of women in the law is one of the most visible forms of gender inequality. Prevalent legal constraints on the basis of gender prevent women, and thereby economies, from reaching their true potential. Resilience And Sustainability Trust―2023 Contribution Agreements with Estonia, France, Japan, Korea, Lithuania, and The Netherlands
This paper presents six Resilience and Sustainability (RST) contribution agreements finalized with contributors between December 2022 and March 2023 including an existing agreement that was amended and restated. The concluded agreements provide for contributions in a total amount of about SDR 9.5 billion across the three RST accounts – the loan account, deposit account, and reserve account. The new agreements with six members add critical resources that support the continued smooth operations of the RST.
Women, Business and the Law 2023
Women, Business and the Law 2023 is the ninth in a series of annual studies measuring the laws and regulations that affect women’s economic opportunity in 190 economies.The project presents eight indicators structured around women’s interactions with the law as they move through their lives and careers: Mobility, Workplace, Pay, Marriage, Parenthood, Entrepreneurship, Assets, and Pension. The 2023 edition identifies barriers to women’s economic participation and encourages reform of discriminatory laws. This year, the study also includes research, a literature review, and analysis of 53 years of reforms for women’s rights. Examining the economic decisions that women make throughout their working lives as well as tracking regulatory changes from 1970 to today, the study makes an important contribution to research and policy discussions about the state of women’s economic opportunities. By presenting powerful examples of change and highlighting the gaps still remaining, Women, Business and the Law 2023 is a vital tool in ensuring economic empowerment for all. Resilience and Sustainability Trust – 2023 Contribution Agreements with Italy, Luxembourg, Oman, and the United Kingdom
This paper presents Resilience and Sustainability (RST) contribution agreements finalized with four contributors between April 2023 and September 15, 2023. The concluded agreements provide for contributions in a total amount of about SDR 4.7 billion across the three RST accounts – the loan account, deposit account, and reserve account. The new agreements with four members add critical resources that support the continued smooth operations of the RST.
Resilience And Sustainability Trust―2022 Contribution Agreements with Australia, Canada, China, Germany, Japan, And Spain
This paper presents the first set of contribution agreements that had been finalized with contributors by the time of the operationalization of the Resilience and Sustainability Trust (RST) on October 12, 2022. The six finalized agreements provide for contributions in a total amount of about SDR 15.3 billion across the three RST accounts – the loan account, deposit account, and reserve account. These six finalized agreements deliver critical resources for the operationalization of the RST and represent an important step towards its adequate funding.

This paper presents the second set of PRGT borrowing agreements that have been finalized through April 2023 as part of the loan mobilization round launched in July 2021 to cover the cost of pandemic-related lending and support the self-sustainability of the Poverty Reduction and Growth Trust (PRGT). Seven of the eight agreements presented use SDRs in the context of SDR channeling. Together these agreements provide a total of SDR 5.1 billion in new PRGT loan resources for low-income countries (LICs).
