Tarih, ümmetler geçidi gibidir. İlâhî emâneti taşıma izzeti, zaman zaman el değiştirmiş ve birinin yerini öteki almıştır. Bu değişimin görünen sebeplerinin yanında, görünmeyen sebepleri de vardır ki, şu âyet-i kerime bu sırrın hangi ilâhî kanuna göre gerçekleştiğini beyan etmektedir: “Ey iman edenler! Sizden kim dininden döner (ya da geri geri durur) ise, (bilmiş olun ki) Allah onların yerine öyle bir topluluk getirir ki, Allah onları sever, onlar da Allah’ı severler. Onlar mü’minlere karşı alçak gönüllü, kâfirlere karşı güçlü ve onurludurlar. Allah yolunda cihad ederler. (Bu yolda) hiçbir kınayıcının kınamasından da korkmazlar. İşte bu, Allah’ın bir lütfudur. Onu dilediğine verir. Allah, lütfu geniş olandır, hakkıyla bilendir.”(Mâide Sûresi, 54) Aziz ümmet olma yolculuğu yalnız Allah’a kul olmakla başlar. Zira esaret ruhu ve zillet, izzete en büyük engeldir. Gerçek hürriyet ise ancak Allah’a kul olmakla kazanılabilir.
