In Healing, author Sherrie M. Steiner promotes social change to grapple with the global environmental problems that threaten our collective future. The book combines scientific and faith-based motives to compel the reader to participate in social renewal. In Healing, Steiner mixes hard-hitting realism with hopeful possibility in her assessment of the vulnerabilities of modern civilization. Steiner addresses numerous socio-political issues, including economic growth, energy policy, and sustainability. Ultimately, however, she says that it is the choices we make about who we become in the days ahead that will determine our healing. Technically, this book is about environmental sustainability, but the subtext is altogether quite different. This is a book about a future filled with hope.

The Interactions Between Instinct and Intellect and its Impact on Human Behavior Length: 200 Pages The paradoxes of human sexuality although self-evident, have been difficult to explain through the conventional understanding of the human mind. A legitimate question to ask would be, if polygamy is natural for humans, then why are there so many rules against it worldwide? And if humans by nature are monogamous, then, why is there so much infidelity in the all of the cultures of the world? All beings instinctively are either polygamous or monogamous and they behave accordingly. However, humans demonstrably are both at the same time. This too, can only be understood through understanding the dif...
Since the formation of the UN in 1945 the international community has witnessed a number of violent self-determination conflicts such as the disintegration of Yugoslavia, Chechnya, Kashmir, and South Sudan that have been a major cause of humanitarian crises and destruction. This book examines the scope and applicability of political self-determination beyond the decolonisation process. Explaining the historical evolution of self-determination, this book provides a theoretical examination of the concept and background. Taking an interdisciplinary approach, the author analyses self-determination in relation to contemporary conflicts, which inform and drive a coherent theoretical framework for ...
Building and sustaining solidarity is a compelling challenge, especially in ethnically and religiously diverse societies. Recent research has concentrated on forces that trigger backlash and exclusion. The Strains of Commitment examines the politics of diversity in the opposite direction, exploring the potential sources of support for an inclusive solidarity, in particular political sources of solidarity. The volume asks three questions: Is solidarity really necessary for successful modern societies? Is diversity really a threat to solidarity? And what types of political communities, political agents, and political institutions and policies help sustain solidarity in contexts of diversity? T...
D.T. Armentano has long been one of the foremost critics of antitrust, and in this new book he states his challenge squarely: there is no respectable economic theory or empirical evidence to justify antitrust. Antitrust laws have been employed repeatedly to restrict the competitive market process and to protect the existing industrial structure. They violate both economic efficiency and individual liberty, and they should be repealed.
