The Immunopathology of Lymphoreticular Neoplasms

Until recently, understanding of the lymphomas was limited and largely descriptive. Attention has been focused, for the most part, upon morphological issues and clinical matters. Although useful, this approach has many shortcomings. The true cytoidentity of primary neoplastic cells was not established by these methods, nor could their clonal nature be recognized. The more overt changes in immunological function, such as monoclonal gammopathies and immunodeficiencies, were appre ciated as important components of these diseases. However, subtle immunological perturbations were not recognized. Furthermore, associations were not established between the lymphoreticular neoplasms on the one hand a...

Diseases of the Lymphatic System

This volume presents a practical approach for clinicians who work with patients afflicted with diseases of the lymphoid system and bone marrow. Associated biochemical, hematological, and chromosomal abnormalities, as well as infectious complications, are covered because of their importance in managing patients with lymphatic diseases. In addition, cell kinetics and the classification of lym phocytic lymphomas are included because familiarity with these subjects leads to a better understanding of the physiology of the disease. Radiological techniques that aid the clinician in the diagnosis and management of diseases of the lymphoid tissue are discussed. The explosive interest in patients with...

Human Lymphokines: The Biological Immune Response Modifiers is a collection of papers presented at the Third International Symposium on Human Lymphokines held on October 15-17, 1981 at the Wadley Institutes of Molecular Medicine in Dallas, Texas. Contributors explore the role of human lymphokines in immune responses and their applications in immunotherapy. The focus is on lymphokines that have either entered clinical trials or are nearing clinical evaluation. Some of the activities of possible immediate significance, such as Glia cell stimulating factor and polyclonal B-cell activator, are also described. This volume is organized into six sections encompassing 56 chapters and begins with an ...

Concise Manual of Hematology and Oncology

A real boon for medical practitioners from a number of disciplines, this is a practice-oriented manual of medical oncology and hematology for day-to-day use in caring for patients’ hematologic and neoplastic diseases. It is founded on the longstanding experience of a large specialized university department accustomed to having to provide reliable advice in a broad range of circumstances. The authors have chosen not to give a comprehensive review of the various subjects but have instead focused on practical methods which have proven to be useful in their experience, with special emphasis on standardizing chemotherapy protocols.
