Esse livro é resultado de uma longa pesquisa etnográfica e surgiu frente a necessidade de compreender o papel que as comunidades evangélicas haitianas exercem entre seus adeptos no Brasil. A convivência com um grupo de haitianos evangélicos em um bairro periférico de São Paulo nos levou a constatar a relação entre a religião desses imigrantes e o contexto migratório em que estavam inseridos. Nesse processo foi possível perceber o cotidiano de haitianos em suas comunidades evangélicas e os dilemas enfrentados em torno de questões relacionadas a família, trabalho, saúde, educação, recepção de novos membros migrantes, acolhimento e integração.
