Sin lugar a duda, la efervescencia electoral fue el elemento más sobresaliente del primer semestre de 2018 en México, con el contundente triunfo de Andrés Manuel López Obrador como el culmen de un proceso en el que el tres veces candidato presidencial supo capitalizar el encono y la rabia de millones de personas, y transmutarlos en esperanza. El estrepitoso derrumbe del tradicional sistema de partidos, con el PRI a la cabeza, dio pie a una reconfiguración del mapa político del país, con el Movimiento de Regeneración Nacional (Morena), que encabeza López Obrador, como principal fuerza en el Legislativo federal, lo que abre la puerta para que el nuevo presidente cumpla sus promesas de campaña en lo político, económico y social, ámbitos en los que casi todo se supeditó al resultado de la jornada del 1 de julio, durante el periodo analizado.
