Work, Organisation and Labour in Dutch Society
The Dutch have their own way of working, organising and managing. This book covers recent developments in labour markets, labour relations, quality of work, human resources management, work organisation and gender/diversity, as they reflect in social science research. It gives an overview of major subjects and themes in social and management sciences and it points to shifts in debates and arguments. The book covers a number of disciplines, such as economics, management and business science, and sociology, and thematic fields such as gender studies and human resources management. This state-of-the-art review of work, organisation and labour research fields in The Netherlands focuses on change in theories and paradigms, on shifting governance networks (the consultation economy), on changing policy-agendas and on new issues like subjectivity, identity and diversity. It contributes to understanding the Dutch model in various respects, and will be of use to scientists, students, policy-makers, media, management, consultants. The Importance of Assent
The view that persons are entitled to respect because of their moral agency is commonplace in contemporary moral theory. What exactly this respect entails, however, is far less uncontroversial. Southeast Alaska Forests
This publication presents highlights of a recent southeast Alaska inventory and analysis conducted by the Pacific Northwest Research Station Forest Inventory and Analysis Program (USDA Forest Service). Southeast Alaska has about 22.9 million acres, of which two-thirds are vegetated. Almost 11 million acres are forest land and about 4 million acres have nonforest vegetation (herbs and shrubs). South-Central Alaska Forests
This publication presents highlights of a recent south-central Alaska inventory conducted by the Pacific Northwest Research Station Forest Inventory and Analysis Program (USDA Forest Service). South-central Alaska has about 18.5 million acres, of which one-fifth (4 million acres) is forested. Species diversity is greatest in closed and open Sitka spruce forests, spruce woodlands, closed tall alder shrub type, and low shrub willow type.
