The stories in the Grimm brothers' Kinder- und Hausmärchen (Children's and Household Tales), first published in 1812 and 1815, have come to define academic and popular understandings of the fairy tale genre. Yet over a period of forty years, the brothers, especially Wilhelm, revised, edited, sanitized, and bowdlerized the tales, publishing the seventh and final edition in 1857 with many of the sexual implications removed. However, the contributors in Transgressive Tales: Queering the Grimms demonstrate that the Grimms and other collectors paid less attention to ridding the tales of non-heterosexual implications and that, in fact, the Grimms' tales are rich with queer possibilities. This book concentrates on the deep historical, political, and institutional relationships between art, education, and excess. Going beyond field specific discourses of art history, art criticism, philosophy, and aesthetics, it explores how the concept of excess has been important and enduring from antiquity through contemporary art, and from early film through the newer interactive media. Examples considered throughout the book focus on disgust, grandiosity, sex, violence, horror, disfigurement, endurance, shock, abundance, and emptiness, and frames them all within an educational context. Together they provide theories and classificatory systems, historical and political interpretations of art and excess, examples of popular culture, and suggestions for the future of educational practice.

Der Wochenplanunterricht ist eine didaktische Methode, die mit den Entwicklungen des "selbstgesteuerten Lernens" und "geöffneten Unterrichts" verbunden ist. Unter den geöffneten Unterrichtsformen verfolgt der Wochenplan einen strukturierten Ansatz, durch eine ganze Breite variierbarer Strukturierungs- und Steuerungselemente lässt sich diese Methode an die Bedürfnisse und Bedingungen der Lerngruppe anpassen. Um der Heterogenität der Schülerschaft gerecht werden zu können, bietet der Wochenplanunterricht durch sein großes Differenzierungspotential eine geeignete Form. Verknüpft werden in diesem Band allgemeine Grundlagen des Wochenplanunterrichts, besondere Aspekte des Übertrags auf die Förderschule und ausführliche Darstellungen des praktischen Einsatzes.
