Egress is the first book to consider the legacy and work of the writer, cultural critic and cult academic Mark Fisher. Narrated in orbit of his death as experienced by a community of friends and students in 2017, it analyses FisherÕs philosophical trajectory, from his days as a PhD student at the University of Warwick to the development of his unfinished book on Acid Communism. Taking the word ÒegressÓ as its starting pointÑa word used by Fisher in his book The Weird and the Eerie to describe an escape from present circumstances as experiences by the characters in countless examples of weird fictionÑEgress considers the politics of death and community in a way that is indebted to FisherÕs own forms of cultural criticism, ruminating on personal experience in the hope of making it productively impersonal.

This book engages artistic interventions in the aerial elements to investigate the aesthetics and politics of atmosphere. Sensing Art in the Atmosphere: Elemental Lures and Aerosolar Practices traces the potential of artistic, community-driven experiments to amplify our sensing of atmosphere, marrying attentions to atmospheric affect with visceral awareness of the materials, institutions and processes hovering in the air. Drawing on six years of practice-led research with artistic and activist initiatives Museo Aero Solar and Aerocene, initiated by artist Tomás Saraceno, each chapter develops creative relations to atmosphere from the studio to stratospheric currents. Surveying the past thirty years of his career and demonstrating his immeasurable influence on contemporary painting, Albert Oehlen: Home and Garden comprises paintings, drawings, and prints from the artist's most important bodies of work. From the beginning of his career, Oehlen set himself the task of exploring the language, structures, and experiences of painting. He has managed to reinvigorate the genres of portraiture, collage, and gestural abstraction in work that deploys a staggering range of imagery and techniques. Oehlen's canvases capture haunting interiors, mutating self-portraits, archaic and digital landscapes, and cryptic fragments of language. As a younger generation of artists turns again to painting as a critical medium, Oehlen's work has only become more influential and prescient.
