The Understanding of Family in Ghana as a Challenge for a Contextual Ecclesiology
The life and nature of the Church are better understood in terms of a self-identity that relies on the language and cultural framework of the stakeholders. Since theological reflections do not take place in a vacuum, the socio-cultural context gains importance. The question is: How much culture can the Church, as a whole, accommodate without losing its universal character? With a focus on the West African country of Ghana, this book analyzes the potential trade-offs and conflicts between the Church and culture in a pluri-religious and multi-cultural society. Das Verhältnis zwischen der lokalen, regionalen und universalen Ebene in der Kirchenverfassung
In den christlichen Konfessionen entwickelten sich unterschiedliche Vorstellungen von kirchlichen Strukturen, die alle mehrere Ebenen umfassen. Doch die Unterschiede beginnen bereits bei der Frage, welche Organe mit welchen Zuständigkeiten tätig werden. Auf der Grundlage der ökumenischen Theologie werden sechs verschiedene kirchenrechtliche Modelle (altorientalisch, orthodox, römisch-katholisch, anglikanisch, evangelisch-lutherisch, evangelisch-reformiert) vorgestellt und mit komparativer Methode analysiert. Dieser Band ist die Frucht einer Tagung, die am 5./6. 12. 2019 in München stattfand.
Health and Quality of Life
How could one define health and disease? On what presuppositions, and ought we look for such definitions? Does quality of life inherit a subjective or objective evaluation? Are health and quality of life culture dependent concepts? Under the conditions of technologically advanced medicine and the common tendency towards a hedonistic lifestyle such questions come into focus. Hence, one question is of special relevance: which role does health play in our quality of life? The contributions of this interdisciplinary volume aim at the clarification of the various concepts in use. Ökumene der konfessionellen Mentalitäten

Adventist Interchurch Relations
This study presents the first comprehensive analysis of Seventhday Adventist interchurch relations – a 20-million member body whose ecumenical stance has so far been underresearched. For the sake of interpreting denominational involvement and reservations in Adventism as well as beyond, the study develops a new academic approach to ecumenism based on Relational Models Theory, a comprehensive social science paradigm of interpreting human relationships. The resulting typology of ecumenical interactions and the historical case study of Adventism suggest that such a relational interpretation of ecumenical interaction sheds light on many of the unresolved issues in ecumenics – such as divergent concepts of unity, difficulties in recognition processes, and the permanence of denominationalism.
