The Swiss Bank Account of Baroness von Braunstein: An Exciting Adventure Story G. Gray Garland During World War II, as the Allied armies advance into Germany, the very wealthy Baron von Braunstein believes Germany will lose the war. His two sons having been killed, he arranges to get his only remaining child, a daughter, out of Germany and into the United States where, before the war, he had friends and business interests. At the war’s end, Eastern Germany is occupied by a Russian satellite government, and the Baron remains a virtual prisoner on his East German estate. He manages to send his daughter a package, but East German agents, believing it contains information harmful to the communist regime, attempt to forcibly recover the information from her. By chance, a young Pittsburgh lawyer saves her from Stasi agents when he finds them trying to torture her in the woods near his home. He becomes her lawyer and friend. Together they embark on an adventure to Switzerland and to a diamond mine in Africa in an attempt to recover her father’s properties. (2017, Paperback, 220 pages)

Whether inscribed within the context of capitalist or neoliberal logic and its imperative to "enjoy," as a critique of all forms of heteronormativity, a liberating force in a positive reading of biopolitics, the point of inflection in the ethics of psychoanalysis, or articulated in the knot of the sinthome, the concept of jouissance is either the diagnosis, response, or solution for a wide range of contemporary discontents. Why does jouissance occupy such a central place in contemporary psychoanalytic discourse? What is jouissance the name for? Originally published in Spanish in 1990, later expanded and translated into French and Portuguese, with multiple reprints in all three languages, this book addresses both theoretical and clinical applications of jouissance through a comprehensive overview of key terms in Lacan's grammar. Néstor A. Braunstein also examines it in relation to central debates within the fields of psychoanalysis, philosophy, queer theory, and literary studies to further explore the implications of Lacan's concept for contemporary thought.
Metal Enolates form a class of compounds that have recently received much study because of their part in the important C-C-bond forming aldol reaction.
