Crowdfunding and the Democratization of Finance

Do you know where your money is? More importantly, do you know what your money is doing? Most of us feel confident that we know what money is. But few of us feel confident in taking responsibility for what our money does. We hand over the power of money to banks and mainstream finance with real, often damaging, consequences for people and planet. A unique collaboration between an academic and a practitioner, this book tells the story of money, from ancient Athens to the Bitcoin revolution, to explain how crowdfunding is the way for people to reclaim the power of their money in pursuit of a fairer and greener society.

Just weeks after completing Enter the Dragon, his first vehicle for a worldwide audience, Bruce Lee - the self-proclaimed world's fittest man - died mysteriously at the age of thirty-two. The film has since grossed over $500 million, making it one of the most profitable in the history of cinema, and Lee has acquired almost mythic status. Lee's was a flawed, complex yet singular talent. He revolutionized the martial arts and forever changed action movie-making. As in The Tao of Muhammad Ali, Davis Miller brilliantly combines biography - the fullest, most unflinching and revelatory to date - with his own coming-of-age autobiography. The result is a unique and compelling book.

There is a part of each of us that is a monk or a mystic. We yearn for perfect peace yet live our lives far removed from traditional monasteriesyet most of us would not want to give up our personal and spiritual freedom to join monastic life. We seek wholeness but realize that wholeness is not possible without sacredness. Sacred life takes root in solitude, in the time we take to develop a relationship with our inner lifein the kind of setting a monastery would offer. This book speaks to the monk or mystic within us. It affirms our place in the sacred silence of solitude and inner reflection, showing how even everyday life is filled with opportunities to live fully in the worldas if it were a holy monastery. Here we learn to live within the limits as well as the spirit of everyday life, how to appreciate our most human self as the path to explore the divine. Here we encounter a world that is clearly available to us, a world filled with nothing less than the gift of sacred silence within the monastery without walls.

Compression Molding

"The compression molding process is well known for its ability to produce highly complex, high-strength parts. This book not only covers the advantages and disadvantages of the molding operation with SMC/BMC (thermosetting) and GMT/LFT (thermoplastic) materials, it also provides the reader with relatively simple models for monitoring, troubleshooting, and quality control of their processes."--BOOK JACKET.Title Summary field provided by Blackwell North America, Inc. Set in a near-future Chicago, QUEEN MAB COURTESY is part adventure, part mystery, part science, and all fun. Tito, the main character, is a "Denver Dwarf"--victim of a birth defect caused by a biological terrorist attack while he was in the womb. It certainly didn't affect his mind or his spirit, though. He meets up with Charlie Sleazer, a hot chestnut vendor who quotes Shakespeare and has a few interesting sidelines (like helping people out of jams). They are trying to unravel what happened to Tito's father, who disappeared years ago. The C.O.P.S.--huge mechanical machines with biological 'chips' in control of their actions--seem to be engaged in a huge cover-up, adding to their already repressive nature as they try to protect people from everything including themselves. Queen Mab Courtesy is a fast-paced novel that's fun and easy to read, yet it makes the reader think about lots of things, not least of which is the value of being true to oneself and one's family.
