Italy and Australia

..".the essays assembled in this volume edited by my old friend and first student, Gianfranco Cresciani, and by Bruno Mascitelli of Swinburne University in Melbourne. All the essays are in some sense focused on what some contemporaries might think is 'old fashioned political history'; there is no mention of emotions, food or dance. The themes are significant. The research is serious. Archives have been probed and detail from them is made available that was not public before. Australia and Italy may be quite a long way apart in 2013 and the gap between them may be increasing. Nonetheless they share quite a bit of history. Important aspects of it are recovered in this collection of essays. It is as much a part of Australian history as is more familiar tales about 'resistance' on the frontier, the growth of mining or the spread of 'Meals on Wheels' across the nation." -- Professor Richard Bosworth

Italy and the European Union

"At the end of the Second World War in 1945, which brought on a new Italian State, Italy's Foreign policy was first and foremost that of re-joining the new order of western alliances and playing a role in the re-building of a new Europe different from that which had brought war and conflict. The book "Italy and the European Union: A Rollercoaster Journey" seeks to bring to English language readers the manner in which Italy directed, approached and implemented its vision toward the new Europe. New visions and proposals emerged through champions such as Altiero Spinelli, Alcide De Gasperi, Robert Schuman and Jean Monnet. It was meant to be a new European journey, which would seek to put war an...

CUST The Global Business Environment

The Global Business Environment- an Australian Perspective by Bruno Mascitelli and John Tinney is to be applauded. It both explores the international business environment from an Australian perspective and highlights areas where other countries are likely to markedly differ from Australia and the issues impacting on international business that need to be borne in mind. Written in an engaging way that is easy to read, it immerses the reader into the international business scene from an Australian perspective taking into account the history of engagement, the prejudices, the strengths and the weaknesses of the Australian business environment- an environment that differs markedly from that in the US, China, India, Brazil, Russia and other countries that might provide attractive business partner for Australian firms. Albania's historical quest for nationhood and independence has been a very turbulent one. Over the last 150 years Italy has been both a "partner" and a "foe" of Albania. Today Albania is in the "waiting room" for membership of the European Union (EU) together with other Western Balkan countries. As the Ukraine events have demonstrated, the process of membership of the EU can be politicised. Despite Albania's desire to enter the EU, membership is not guaranteed. Dr Perparim Xhaferi is a research fellow at the European Centre of excellence/RMIT University in Melbourne. Marco Brunazzo is Professor of Political Science at the Department of Sociology and Social Research at the University of Trento (Italy). Bruno Mascitelli is an Adjunct Professor at Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne.

Brazilians Abroad

Emigrant voting has been implemented in more than 150 countries in the world, allowing emigrants to take part in the elections of their home country. This phenomenon is a consequence of global migration and political transnationalism. Looking at the experience of Brazil, this book explores the changed nature of Brazilian emigration and analyses how emigrant voting was initially introduced and subsequently permitted in all presidential elections. The book also investigates what external voting rights represent to the Brazilian emigrant community and if and how Brazilian emigrants engage politically with their country of origin. It is based on original research and data collected from Brazilians abroad across the seven countries with the most Brazilian emigrants.

Italy and Australia

This book offers a novel and comprehensive reappraisal of current relations between Italy and Australia. For the first time, it expands the scope of analysis by encompassing and critically reviewing research avenues that have been understudied so far. In order to pursue this objective, it provides innovative analyses on bilateral history, reciprocal migration, socio-cultural ties, international relations and trade, comparative politics, and scientific cooperation. By adopting a multidisciplinary approach, this book makes a significant contribution to multiple disciplinary literatures, benefitting social science scholars, policymakers, and professionals working in a number of fields. Mindful of the wide scope and multidisciplinary nature of this innovative research, the editors oversee a careful balance of different theories, methodologies, sources, and data, in accordance with the conventions of each discipline employed in this volume. As a result, this book encourages a broader and more nuanced understanding of Italian-Australian relations in the 21st century.

This new book "Organics in the global food chain" is a long overdue scholarly treatment of organic food in its many derivations. It provides a multifaceted view of the obscure but growing concept of organic food in our food chain. Today's society has a greater appreciation of quality in what we eat and consume including a greater appreciation of sustainability, food security and the other attributes which food should provide society. This book explores the origins and drivers of organic food and opens up this sector to greater scrutiny and debate on the worthiness of organic food as an alternative to our normal staple diet. About the Author: Associate Professor Bruno Mascitelli is an Associate Professor in International Studies at the Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne. Associate Professor Antonio Lobo teaches Marketing and Supply Chain Management to postgraduate students in the Faculty of Business and Enterprise at the Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, Australia.
