The present two volumes of Macromolecular Symposia contain 83 invited and contributed papers which are classified according to the three main topics of the symposium. Articles in volume 150 deal with "Polymerization in Dispersed Media", whereas volume 151 comprises contributions to "Non-Conventional Dispersion of Polymers", as well as "Properties and Applications of Dispersed Media".

The UNESCO School and IUPAC Conference in April 2001 was the fourth to be held in Stellenbosch, South Africa. World authorities are invited to give tutorials at the School and presentations at the Conference to expose South African students and researchers to new ideas in the area of macromolecular science. Continuing the theme of Macromolecules and Materials Science, the focus was on polymer characterization, new polymer architectures and nanomaterials. A number of papers presented at the Conference are collected in this volume of Macromolecular Symposia.
This book is based on lectures and posters presented at the workshop "Data Evaluation in Light Scattering of Polymers"held in Bad Schandau, Germany. The articles cover a broad range of applications including basic research studies on complex polymeric systems as well as routine measurements and provide a survey of novel data evaluation schemes mostly developed during the last decade. This volume of Macromolecular Symposia contains chapters dedicated to different aspects of modern polymer science. The EUROMAT 2001 conference held in June 2001 in Rimini, Italy was an ideal international forum for dealing with this complex subject. The International Symposium on Ionic Polymerization (IP'99) was held in Kyoto, Japan, July 1999. It was sponsored by IUPAC, the Chemical Society of Japan, the Society of Polymer Science, Japan, the Society of Synthetic Organic Chemistry, Japan and the Japan Chemical Innovation Institute. The research areas covered were directed at the traditional fields of cationic, anionic and ring-opening polymerization, as well as polymer synthesis, including radical, metal catalyzed, and enzymatic polymerization, plus polycondensation and new polymer architecture. The papers in this volume of Macromolecular Symposia cover a broad range of topics illustrative of the symposium.
