The Cambridge History of the Book in Britain
This volume of The Cambridge History of the Book in Britain presents an overview of the century-and-a-half between the death of Chaucer in 1400 and the incorporation of the Stationers' Company in 1557. James Bass Mullinger (1834-1917) was a University Lecturer in History and Librarian at St. John's College, Cambridge. His monumental History of the University was the standard history of the University at the turn of the twentieth century.
