Creation and Separation
Tang Taizong (Li Shimin), 2nd emperor of the Tang dynasty, commissioned six statues of his favorite warhorses to be carved in stone and serve as part of his political legacy at his mausoleum, Zhao Ling. This book traces the history and significance of these statues, from their creation in 7th-century China, through their removal from the mausoleum in the early 20th c., when two made their way to the United States antiquities market through the dealer C.T. Loo, and ultimately to the Penn Museum. Their time on the art market and subsequent stewardship by the Penn Museum are also explored. Contemporaneous sources and archival records reconstruct the roles of different people, Chinese and Westerners, in the sale of and competition for these stone horses. While underlining their exceptional significance and reconstructing the historical path they traversed, this work serves to bridge the gaps in the shared knowledge of the historical facts pertaining to these horse reliefs and build a common foundation for intercultural dialogue and cooperation surrounding cultural heritage preservation and changing museum practice.

Heavenly Khan
This historical fiction is based on the true story of Li Shimin (also known as Tang Taizong), the greatest sovereign in Chinese history. About 30 years younger than Muhammad, he grew up in a world of devastating upheaval that tore China asunder and was thrust into the role of a military commander in his father’s rebel army while still a teenager. In the process of vanquishing his enemies on the battlefield, he proved himself to be a great military genius. As emperor he encouraged critical suggestions by his court officials, which he often adopted, and lent support to the religions of his day, notably, Buddhism, Daoism, and Christianity. Public Health, Public Health Education, and their Future Prospects
A number of studies have pointed out that currently, medical schools may have failed to supply self-directed lifelong learners and qualified healthcare workers. Therefore, in recent years, the medical teaching modes have been consistently reformed. The new generation of novel education modes such as Research-Based Learning (RBL), Problem-Based Learning PBL), Team-Based Learning (TBL) have the characteristics of universality, interactivity, and promptness, which empower instructors and students to learn and grow together. Moreover, the reform of medical teaching modes has been significantly facilitated in the COVID19 era due to public’s rising awareness of public health and more obviously, pandemic prevention policies such as travel restrictions. For instance, many countries have launched remote teaching mode in order to provide consistent education service with high quality. These novel teaching modes can provide amelioration to the traditional education modes and may lead the education system to another prosperity.
