The Wisdom of the Cross and the Power of the Spirit in the Corinthian Church
The cross of Christ crucified symbolized the central theme of Paul's ministry. In his letter to the Corinthians, the apostle commenced his correspondence with the message about the cross and power of God (1 Cor 1:18, NRSV). The proposal for this paper utilizes the method analogia scripturae. Set within the wisdom motif of the Greco-Roman world, this study is dedicated to the examination of the apostle's Christology in the context of 1 Cor 1:18-25 and the pneumatology in 1 Cor 2:9-16 as both pericopes are juxtaposed in his epistle. Depression, Where Is Your Sting?
If Christianity offers believers hope, freedom, and victory over darkness, why are Christians depressed? This book explores this question using the author’s experiences with depression both as a non-believer and later as a Christian. Self-harm, suicidal behavior, and alcohol typified his non-Christian life until an encounter with Christ healed him from depression and delivered him from his self-destructive lifestyle. Unfortunately, the depression returned within a few years of becoming a Christian. He looked to the church for help but found none. This led him on a spiritual journey with God to find healing from depression. Join him as he unmasks the problem of depression in the church and explains how the church can lead sufferers to wholeness. He also shares his own struggles and describes how he found freedom from depression through Christ.
Billet and Related Families of York, Lancaster, and Dauphin Counties of Pennsylvania
Kraft Billet, born about 1730-1735, place and parents unknown, immigrated to the United States in 1751 and settled in York County, Pennsylvania. He married Maria Magdalena Kunkel about 1756. She was born around 1737 in York County, Pennsylvania, daughter of Gottlieb Kunkel and Christine Barbara. They had 13 children. Kraft passed away before 1807 and Maria passed away 1809/1810. Their children and descendants have lived in Pennsylvania, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois and other areas in the United States.
