Eva Choung-Fux ist eine zentrale Künstlerpersönlichkeit der Wiener Szene seit den 1960er Jahren. Ihr umfangreiches Werk ist zum einen durch den meisterlichen Umgang mit druckgraphischen Techniken gekennzeichnet, zum anderen durch ihr persönliches Naheverhältnis zur asiatischen Kultur. Mehrere Jahre verbrachte sie in Korea und Japan. Von dort zurückgekehrt, begann ihre jahrzehntelange Lehrtätigkeit an der damaligen Akademie für angewandte Kunst. Gemeinsam mit ihren Studierenden erschloss sie neue Zugänge zu gesellschaftsrelevanten Themen und wurde zur ersten Unterrichtenden für künstlerische Fotografie in Wien. Poesie und engagierte Literatur bilden Konstanten in ihrem bildnerischen Schaffen in Form von skripturaler Abstraktion und massiven Textüberlagerungen in ihren Gemälden bis hin zum Verlust der Zeichenhaftigkeit. In den letzten Jahren übergab Eva Choung-Fux ihr Hauptwerk der Kulturabteilung der Stadt Wien - MUSA. Die vorliegende Publikation bietet einen ersten umfassenden Überblick zum Oeuvre und begleitet eine Ausstellungstournee durch mehrere europäische Städte.
