Ethnicity and Violence
This book provides a genealogy of radical Basque nationalism and the means by which this complex, often violent, political movement has reinforced Basque identity. La aprobación de la Directiva Marco del Agua (2000/60/CE) en el año 2000 ha supuesto un cambio sustancial en el paradigma de la gestión del agua. La crisis de insostenibilidad y la quiebra de la salud de los ecosistemas fluviales de agua dulce hacen necesaria una nueva gobernanza del agua en la que el enfoque ecosistémico debe primar sobre el tradicional enfoque productivista. Los ríos, arroyos, lagos, humedales, acuíferos, aguas costeras y aguas de transición deben ser entendidos y gestionados como ecosistemas complejos y diversos que albergan vida y proporcionan servicios y beneficios a la sociedad. El camino hacia la sostenibilidad, en materia de aguas, pasa por considerar nuestra condición de usufructuarios de un patrimonio hídrico natural que debemos conservar y proteger para garantizar su disfrute por las generaciones venideras. Este libro tiene por objeto resaltar los nuevos requerimientos ambientales emanados de la Directiva Marco del Agua y plantear una serie de recomendaciones acordes con los principios de la nueva cultura del agua para tender hacia una gestión sostenible del agua en Álava.
