Melancology
Melancology addresses the notorious musical genre black metal as a negative form of environmental writing that ‘blackens’ the cosmos. This book conjures a new word and concept that conjoins ‘black’ and ‘ecology’: melancology, a word in which can be heard the melancholy affect appropriate to the conjunction. Black metal resounds from the abyss and it is precisely only in relation to its sonic forces that the question of intervention in the environment arises in the articulation of melancology with ethics. That is, in deciding ‘which way out’ we should take, in deciding with what surpluses to dwell, with what waste, what detritus or decay in a process of unbinding with sonic forces that traverse an earth choking in wealth and death. The book thus provides a provocative and challenging contribution both to popular and intellectual debates on ecology.

Floating Tomb: Black Metal Theory
Floating Tomb: Black Metal Theory is a collaborative collection of writings in black metal theory (BMT), an amorphous ‘metallectual’ movement initiated in 2009 with the symposium Hideous Gnosis. According to its earliest formulation, BMT seeks to creatively destroy the boundary between metal and theory, to make something new in the space of their shared negativity: ‘Not black metal. Not theory. Not not black metal. Not not theory. Black metal theory. Theoretical blackening of metal. Metallic blackening of theory. Mutual blackening. Nigredo in the intoxological crucible of symposia’. This volume gathers together previously published and new work on BMT focusing onmysticism, a domain of thought and experience with deep connections both to the black metal genre and to theory (theoria, vision, contemplation). More than a topic for BMT, the mystical is here explored in terms of the continuous intersection of black metal andtheory, the ‘floating tomb’ wherein metal is elevated into the intellectual and visionary experience that it already is.

Das Science Fiction Jahr 2020
Seit 1986 erscheint "Das Science Fiction Jahr" in ununterbrochener Reihe. Von Wolfgang Jeschke im Heyne Verlag ins Leben gerufen und nach einigen Jahren im Golkonda Verlag wird das Jahrbuch seit 2019 von Hardy Kettlitz und Melanie Wylutzki herausgegeben. Das Kompendium bietet einen Rückblick über das, was die Science Fiction in Literatur, Comic, Game, Film & TV im vergangenen Jahr hervorgebracht hat und gleichzeitig einen Kommentar zu relevanten Aspekten und Entwicklungen des Genres. Einen besonderen Fokus legt die 35. Ausgabe des Jahrbuchs auf das Thema "Gender, Queer, Diversity", das Autor*innen in Interviews, Essays und Rückschauen nebst anderen Themen beleuchten. Abgerundet wird die Chronik mit Buchrezensionen, einer Übersicht über die wichtigsten vergebenen Genre-Preise, einer Würdigung bedeutender Persönlichkeiten des Genres sowie einer Bibliographie der in Deutschland erschienenen SF. Metal Theory
I metalli sono elementi malleabili, che si prestano a infiniti usi, manipolazioni e ibridazioni, eppure in ogni sua forma, manifestazione e trasformazione il metallo rimane inconfondibile nella sua estraneità, nel suo apparire alieno rispetto a noi creature organiche, mortali ed effimere. È per questo che il metal si chiama così: è un genere musicale primordiale, sovversivo, anarchico, che trova la sua essenza nel discostarsi dalla propria matrice, nella rottura continua, nello stridore, e nella deformazione, eppure rimane inconfondibile. Il filosofo Mark Fisher ha definito il metal un genere «saturo di metafisica». Gli unici approcci possibili per accostarsi al metal sono infatti quello mistico e quello filosofico. In Metal theory, in nove, tra autori e autrici, colgono la sfida concettuale posta dal genere dionisiaco per eccellenza: oltre la critica musicale, oltre la concettualizzazione filosofica, in un viaggio attraverso temi e immaginari inquietanti, sostanze psicotrope, possessioni demoniache, volumi al limite del danno auricolare, narrative ultraviolente, deliri megalomani ed estatiche celebrazioni del male.
