The Sunday Times bestseller, with a new introduction by Nassim Nicholas Taleb 'If great books encourage you to look at the world in an entirely new way, then Dominion is a very great book indeed' Dominic Sandbrook, Sunday Times History Book of the Year 'Terrific: bold, ambitious and passionate' Peter Frankopan Dominion tells the epic story of how those in the West came to be what they are, and why they think the way they do. Ranging from Moses to Merkel, from Babylon to Beverley Hills, from the emergence of secularism to the abolition of slavery, it explores why, in a society that has become increasingly doubtful of religion's claims, so many of its instincts remain irredeemably Christian. Jesus has mandated his church to actively engage in transforming society on earth--"Thy kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven." But when societal issues and problems loom large, it can seem an impossible task. Offering solid teachings on apostles and prophets, spiritual warfare, the church in the workplace, and much more, C. Peter Wagner shows readers just how kingdom action can change the world. With a sense of mission and urgency, Wagner explores the biblical roots of dominion theology, the views of great Christian thinkers through the ages, the ways Christians are working it out in their lives and on the job, and what each part can do when brought together through the operational power of the Holy Spirit.

Author of dominionist title 'Before Jerusalem Fell' and leaning toward a preteristic approach to Revelation ... Gentry does a good job of explaining the issue, showing the points of dispute and different interpretations between dispensationalism / premillennialism, amillennialism, and postmillennialism. It's hinted at throughout the book--and blatantly obvious in the appendices--that Gentry believes that postmillennialism directly leads to the acceptance of theonomy and perhaps the Christian Reconstruction movement, which prescribes Old Covenant law as the basis for civil governments. Gentry argues errors in dispensationalism and gives reasons to prefer postmillennialism over amillennialism, but fails to provide a fair reason that the Kingdom of God on earth equals the continuance of the Law. Gentry needs a more comprehensive description of how theonomy complements postmillennialism and how this might practically be approached in the present days. -- From Amazon.com review.

Dominion over Wildlife?

For centuries Christians believed that God granted humanity dominion over the animal kingdom, meaning that we had a moral right to kill, manage, and eat animals including wildlife. Recently, however, environmental and animal rights activists have assaulted this traditional perspective. They argue that dominion as expressed in meat eating and hunting has resulted in species extinction and environmental degradation. Christian Animal Rights (CAR) activists suggest that the church must reevaluate its traditional beliefs in light of the fact that God's original creation was free of human on animal violence. God, they argue, did not want man's dominion to be expressed through trapping, killing, an...
