Rev. John Rowan (1543-1605) lived in Scotland. John Francis Rowan (b.1684), a direct descendant in the fifth generation, immigrated from Ireland to Maryland. Descendants lived in Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, Iowa, Colorado and elsewhere.
