Voices of Resilience: Conversations with Parkinson’s Disease Warriors, Caregivers, and Advocates - Book I

This book of interviews aims to raise awareness and hope for a cure for Parkinson’s Disease. I contacted individuals worldwide to obtain the interviews because PD does not discriminate and affects individuals, families, and communities worldwide. I believe we must be family in this fight for a cure. When I learned that approximately 1 million individuals are diagnosed in the United States and over 10 million worldwide, I felt that many other journeys needed to be shared. So many inspired me to keep advocating for a cure!

A SON’S JOURNEY

A Son’s Journey from Parkinson’s Disease Caregiver to Advocate. This book is, first, a memoir of and praise for my mother, Sharon, who was my best friend through both our lives and explores her journey with PD. The book is a heartfelt recollection of the beginnings of her Parkinson’s disease symptoms and my caregiving to support through her battle with PD. However, I also want to reach those who are not aware of Parkinson’s throughout the world. Until we ensure that others outside the local or regional Parkinson’s community are made aware, a cure will be further from our grasp. Others, too, may find the book helpful, especially for those suffering from associated diseases.

This book came from experiences I have gone through in my Christian walk. I became a Christian in 1993 and soon enough I came to know that if I were to enjoy my Christian life, I had to renew my mind with the Word of God. I also came to realize that, the environment that I grew up in and the developed mind set over the years, were directing how I related to God and His Word. To a larger extent, this was always in conflict with the Word of God. I would get frustrated when my prayers were not answered how and when I wanted them to. I would begin to ask myself questions such as; "Is God punishing me for something? Did God really hear my prayers? How did so and so receive what I have been asking...
