Typed transcriptions of two letters written by Charles Mason from Burlington, Iowa in January and February, 1882. The original letters were hand-written by Mason's granddaughter, Mary Josephine Mason Remey, to whom they were dictated. It appears that Mason's letters to Stiles were written while Stiles was preparing to write his history of the bar in Iowa, published in 1916 under the title: Recollections and sketches of notable lawyers and public men of early Iowa.
