Paul Graham's Beyond Caring published in 1986 is now considered one of the key works from Britain's wave of "New Color" photography that was gaining momentum in the 1980s. While commissioned to present his view of "Britain in 1984," Graham turned his attention towards the waiting rooms, queues and poor conditions of overburdened Social Security and Unemployment offices across the United Kingdom. Photographing surreptitiously, his camera is both witness and protagonist within a bureaucratic system that speaks to the humiliation and indignity aimed towards the most vulnerable end of society. Books on Books #9 presents every page spread of Graham's controversial book along with a contemporary essay by writer and curator David Chandler.--Publisher.

Following the format of his popular, Forgiveness Book and Grace Happens, Bob Libby uses his pastoral and journalistic skills to tell the stories of how people have found their way to an exciting and fulfilling Christian faith. In Coming To Faith you will enter into the spiritual journey of Billy Graham, Susan Howatch, Terry Waite, and Cassie Bernall and other well known contemporary figures. You'll also encounter the stories of an Iranian refugee, a convicted murderer in an Oklahoma prison, a surfer from New Zealand and a homeless woman in Miami. You will join the journey of some famous figures in Christian history such as: Augustine, Luther, Wesley, C.S. Lewis and Thomas Merton. There are 25 stories from Africa and Asia; the western and eastern hemispheres, the first, second and third worlds; the young and the old; the living and the dead. Each chapter stands on its own and is followed by a selection from scripture, a brief reflection and a hymn associated with or chosen by the individual being studied.

Like some people recently retired, Mark had taken on a diversion that pretty well takes up much of his time. At one time, he collected baseball cards, a pastime that required him to acquire cards through trades with fellow enthusiasts or winning cards through arcane competitions when the application of Facebook allowed him to accumulate cards more easily. Several years later, on an airplane flight from Montreal to New York City, Mark glimpses a television show being shown on a computer laptop belonging to a woman sitting in a seat across the aisle of that flight. Mark thinks and then becomes convinced that one of the actresses playing a woman in that show is in fact his first girlfriend. That realization results in a search for the identity of that woman though a variety of methods and sources, an effort that culminates in a rendezvous with his memory.

In this book, contributors from diverse backgrounds take a first step toward an integrated view of reefs and the significance of their recent decline. More than any other earth system, coral reefs sit at a disciplinary crossroads. Most recently, they have reached another crossroads - fundamental changes in their bio-physical structure greater than those of previous centuries or even millennia. Effective strategies to mitigate recent trends will require an approach that embraces the myriad perspectives from across the scientific landscape, but will also need a mechanism to transform scientific understanding into social will and political implementation.
