This volume gathers the invited talks of the XIII International Work shop on Condensed Matter Theories which took place in Campos do Jordao near Sao Paulo, Brazil, August 6-12, 1989. It contains contributions in a wide variety of fields including neutral quantum and classical fluids, electronic systems, composite materials, plasmas, atoms, molecules and nuclei, and as this year's workshop reflected the natural preoccupation in materials science with its spectacular prospect for mankind, room tempera ture super-conductivity. All topics are treated from a common viewpoint: that of many-body physics, whether theoretical or simu1ational. Since the very first workshop, held at the prestigious Ins...
Shortly after Soledad Starova was hospitalised unconscious, two national senators are assassinated. They both had ties to the young Albanian girl, but she was already in a deep coma, unable to speak. She has no family or friends in the country. The police and federal investigators have no clues that could link their deaths to the young girl, only the one who pulled the trigger knows the truth. Or, at least, that’s what they think. A federal judge and the deceased senators’ advisor fear being next on the list. Intrigue, suspense, and an uncertain end until the very last page.
This review volume presents both basic and applied aspects of diluted magnetic semiconductors (DMS). The term DMS applies generally to semiconductors in which a fraction of its constituent ions are replaced by magnetic ions. This book is only the second to review DMS materials. It presents a detailed treatment of the current state of knowledge of the established properties of DMS in the form of single crystals, quantum wells and superlattices. It also brings together recent work on new DMS materials and presents discussions on a wide range of possible DMS applications.
