Compiled for them by their family, The Rest of the Story: Branches From Our Tree is a collection of family lineage, photographs and memories. Howard and Jean have always made it a priority to share stories and experiences from their past with their family. At various times, family trees have been done, lineages recorded and photographs have been saved. Howard has written his memoirs and Jean has captured so many special memories from her past as well. They have done so with such detail that it seemed very important to connect all of these pieces together and preserve them. Howard and Jean have three children, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren that are so excited to have so much of their family's past recorded and documented. They feel it rare and quite a gift to know so much about The Rest of the Story.
Pioneer History of Crane County Before 1925
This book is the outcome of a lifelong love of history and the results of many years of research. Mr. Hooper tired of hearing "There weren't any people in Crane before the oil boom," and set out to prove the statement wrong. The material covers historical information of the Comanche War Trails, Chihuahua Trail out of Mexico. Gold hungry prospectors on their way to the gold fields in California. The Butterfield-Overland Mail, route which carried the mail from home. Goodnigh-Loving cattle drives and John Chisum Trail drive, which herded thousands of longhorn cattle to the forts on the western frontier, and the first tough cattlemen who, mixing herds on the open range, of miles of unfenced land. The second section covers the homesteaders in Crane County who endured the challenges and day to day dangers of living in the wild harsh country of West Texas. In-depth details of individuals, families, lives and evolving ranches, occurring after the open range ranches ended turning into fenced territory, becoming property owned by individuals. A treasure chest opened for history buffs, genealogists, with the history needed to educate the youth of today.

Masqueraders Musicians and the Old Time St. Croix Christmas Festival
The book highlights masqueraders on St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands to include Viggo Roberts, Lionel Huntt and Asta Williams along with stories aout Paddy Moore, Fritz "Marshall" Sealey, Albert Halliday and other street performers who performed on certain holidays. Two Crucian musicians, Ernest "Prince" Galloway and Dr. Stanley Jacobs, share stories about their musical careers. The organization of the Old Time St. Croix Christmas Festival is researched and documented. The book contains information on troupe leaders such as Floyd Henderson, Lillian Bailey, Amy P. Joseph for the Eve's Garden Troupe, the Gentlemen of Jones and Genevieve "Jenny" Thurland. Former Senator Lilliana Belardo de O'Neal describes the significance of Three King's Day and the contributions of Puerto Ricans to the St. Croix Festival. The photographs provide colorful images of the costumes worn by participants during that period. The book is educational, historical and cultural for present and future generations of Virgin Islanders to enjoy.
