Recent Advances in Pure and Applied Mathematics
This volume comprises high-quality works in pure and applied mathematics from the mathematical communities in Spain and Brazil. A wide range of subjects are covered, ranging from abstract algebra, including Lie algebras, commutative semigroups, and differential geometry, to optimization and control in real world problems such as fluid mechanics, the numerical simulation of cancer PDE models, and the stability of certain dynamical systems. The book is based on contributions presented at the Second Joint Meeting Spain-Brazil in Mathematics, held in Cádiz in December 2018, which brought together more than 330 delegates from around the world. All works were subjected to a blind peer review process. Interdisciplinary Topics in Applied Mathematics, Modeling and Computational Science
The Applied Mathematics, Modelling, and Computational Science (AMMCS) conference aims to promote interdisciplinary research and collaboration. The contributions in this volume cover the latest research in mathematical and computational sciences, modeling, and simulation as well as their applications in natural and social sciences, engineering and technology, industry, and finance. The 2013 conference, the second in a series of AMMCS meetings, was held August 26—30 and organized in cooperation with AIMS and SIAM, with support from the Fields Institute in Toronto, and Wilfrid Laurier University. There were many young scientists at AMMCS-2013, both as presenters and as organizers. This proceedings contains refereed papers contributed by the participants of the AMMCS-2013 after the conference. Advances in Differential Equations and Applications
The book contains a selection of contributions given at the 23th Congress on Differential Equations and Applications (CEDYA) / 13th Congress of Applied Mathematics (CMA) that took place at Castellon, Spain, in 2013. CEDYA is renowned as the congress of the Spanish Society of Applied Mathematics (SEMA) and constitutes the main forum and meeting point for applied mathematicians in Spain. The papers included in this book have been selected after a thorough refereeing process and provide a good summary of the recent activity developed by different groups working mainly in Spain on applications of mathematics to several fields of science and technology. Helicity in Turbulence Modelling by Homogenization
Also, the model is shown to be frame-invariant when the initial perturbation is locally isotropic. Some numerical tests of our model in the case of 3D Poiseuille flow are finally presented. We compare the results of the model with those furnished by direct numerical solution of Navier-Stokes equations. A good agreement in the behaviour of both turbulent kinetic energy and helicity is found, for the rate of decay and transient effects."
