Am I Struggling with my Flesh or is There a Demon involved? This is a common question to deliverance ministers. It highlights that there are two sources of struggles in our lives. One is the flesh, the other can be demonic. The way to deal with the flesh is to crucify it. This is a daily spiritual exercise that engages our body, our mind, our emotions and our will in submission to Jesus. However, when there is an unlean spirit involved, we are not told to ¿crucify¿ the demon. We are told to treat a demon the same way we would treat a filthy, muddy farm animal running through a house ¿ we drive it out! We are told to crucify the flesh, and to cast out a demon. What are some of the ways we can distinguish whether or not we need deliverance? The most accurate and powerful method is a ¿fruit inspection.¿ The fruit of the Spirit are the earmarks of followers of Jesus who are alive and growing and active. All of us need, from time to time, to check our fruit,

Overcoming Rejection: Revised & Updated

Overcoming Rejection: Revised & Updated

REJECTION is one of the most common, inner wounds. It can occur at any stage in life, from the time of conception through adulthood. Rejection is one of the most neglected wounds within a person's soul. It brings a disturbance and a heaviness on a human heart. An individual wounded inside fears further rejection. He comes under pressure to change who he is in order to find love "€" and to reject the truth of who God created him to be. This pressure wears him down, and eventually creates abnormalities in his behavior. This is by the design of his enemy. The devil hates love. He is opposed to God, who is Love. The perfect love of Jesus casts out fear ( 1 John 4:18 ). The Spirit of the Lord restores our soul, and our confidence in who we truly are. Jesus is working to edify and strengthen us. In this moment, your Savior wants to assure you of how valuable you are to Him and to His Kingdom. He wants you to become stable in His love, and to find a new freedom from the chains of the enemy.

The Discerning of Spirits

The gift of discerning of spirits is a powerful weapon in the Christian's arsenal! When God calls us into ministry, He equips us. God has called all of us into spiritual warfare and spiritual battle. His Church will be a militant Church, and the "gates of hell shall not prevail against her." The weapons God supplies us with are not carnal or fleshly weapons, but spiritual ones, they are "mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds." We are equipped by God for spiritual warfare through the gifts of the Holy Spirit mentioned in 1 Corinthians 12. God has said that these are the channels through which His power will flow, the avenues through which His Holy Spirit will operate. Chief among these gifts for the ministry of deliverance is the gift of discerning of spirits. We must rely upon the Holy Spirit for the ministry of deliverance and nothing else, not the arm of the flesh or the voice of demons. Frank Hammond explains the application of this gift to the believer, and provides examples of how it has worked in his own ministry. He concludes with a prayer of impartation for the reader to receive this gift and the gifts of knowledge, wisdom and faith.

The Strongman of Unbelief

God, through Isaiah, raises this question: "Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?" Isa. 53:1. What is the full report? What is the full gospel? Isaiah 53 tells us all that Jesus appropriated for us on the Cross. It is salvation from sin unto eternal life, but it is much so more than that! There are many unbelieving believers who do not appropriate the full benefits of the Cross. They have selectively appropriated the basics yet bypassed all the other good fruit. The Devil's goal is to keep us in unbelief. The devil is in trouble if we believe the full report. He torments and defeats us by keeping us in unbelief so that we cannot appropriate the full ...

Obstacles to Deliverance - Why Deliverance Sometimes Fails

Why does deliverance sometimes fail? This is, in essence, the same question raised by Jesus' first disciples. When these disciples were unable to cast out a spirit of epilepsy, they were puzzled and asked Jesus the reason for their failure. Jesus gave a multi-part answer which leads us to take into account the petitioner's faith, the deliverance minister's capability, the spiritual qualifications that must be met, the strength of the spirit confronted and the strategy of warfare employed. In particular, there are myths, misunderstandings and misinformation concerning the ministry of deliverance. The first battleground is in the minds of men, where Satan has sown questions, doubts and fears that become hindrances to involvement in this valid, biblical ministry. Those who want an answer should be given an answer. Ignorance, prejudice and fear are hurdles that some sincere Christi ans must get over before they are willing to become involved in spiritual warfare. Before one can bring himself to obedience to deal with the devil and demons, certain obstacles must be overcome in one's mind.
