Portage Lakes
Portage Lakes is a unique area that lies within the boundaries of Coventry Township and the cities of Green and New Franklin. Within the last century, the communities have gradually moved from agrarian in nature to those of classical developing suburbs. Portage Lakes is rich in history that connects it to the Ohio Erie and Pennsylvania/Ohio Canals, Delaware Indians, Portage Path, the Ohio Department of Parks and Recreation, Portage Lakes State Park, Connecticut land grants, the Western Reserve, Prohibition, coal mining, and water-sport recreation. Although Portage Lakes does not have identified political boundaries, its own local government, or school district, residents in the area often remark that they live in Portage Lakes.

When Justaine Monar is brought in to help investigate an unusual and bizarre murder before Halloween, he believes its only to evaluate him for field promotion. However, after meeting Clarions Detective Thakian and finding out about a certain cyber-group called Trial By Fire, he believes this investigation can be completed very shortly. After more murders occur within Clarion and after speaking with Lucas Grier, a self-made costume-making millionaire that gives Monar the creeps,he is determined to find the connections between the murders ,Lucas Grier, and Trial By Fire. The group, Monar finds out, are made up of teenagers hackers that are being sought out by Grier because of their forewarnings about him and warnings of something catastrophic occuring on Halloween. Clearing the teens of any wrongdoing and noticing Detective Thakian acting very strangely towards him, he must unravel the mystery before the whole town of Clarion turns into a city of death!
