Guide to the Euphonium Repertoire

Guide to the Euphonium Repertoire is the most definitive publication on the status of the euphonium in the history of this often misunderstood and frequently under-appreciated instrument. This volume documents the rich history, the wealth of repertoire, and the incredible discography of the euphonium. Music educators, composers/arrangers, instrument historians, performers on other instruments, and students of the euphonium (baritone horn, tenor tuba, etc.) will find the exhaustive research evident in this volume's pages to be compelling and comprehensive. Contributors are Lloyd Bone, Brian L. Bowman, Neal Corwell, Adam Frey, Marc Dickman, Bryce Edwards, Seth D. Fletcher, Carroll Gotcher, Atticus Hensley, Lisa M. Hocking, Sharon Huff, Kenneth R. Kroesche, R. Winston Morris, John Mueller, Michael B. O'Connor, Eric Paull, Joseph Skillen, Kelly Thomas, Demondrae Thurman, Matthew J. Tropman, and Mark J. Walker.

Anderson Lake is a company man, AgriGen's Calorie Man in Thailand. Under cover as a factory manager, Anderson combs Bangkok's street markets in search of foodstuffs thought to be extinct, hoping to reap the bounty of history's lost calories. There, he encounters Emiko... Emiko is the Windup Girl, a strange and beautiful creature. One of the New People, Emiko is not human; instead, she is an engineered being, creche-grown and programmed to satisfy the decadent whims of a Kyoto businessman, but now abandoned to the streets of Bangkok. Regarded as soulless beings by some, devils by others, New People are slaves, soldiers, and toys of the rich in a chilling near future in which calorie companies rule the world, the oil age has passed, and the side effects of bio-engineered plagues run rampant across the globe. What happens when calories become currency? What happens when bio-terrorism becomes a tool for corporate profits, when bio-terrorism's genetic drift forces mankind to the cusp of post-human evolution?

Motets for Solo Voice and Ensemble

This edition presents seven previously unpublished motets for solo voice and ensemble composed by Marianna Martines (1744–1812) during the 1760s. The first six of these works set unique texts in Latin and Italian, likely by Martines herself or the poet Pietro Metastasio (1698–1782). These motets survive as autograph manuscript scores, preserved in a bound volume in the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde, Vienna. The seventh motet, a setting of the “Salve regina,” survives in a set of partbooks in the city archive of Bratislava. These works feature brilliant, virtuosic vocal writing and demonstrate Martines’s mastery of the Neapolitan style and her personal sense of religious devotion.
