Thomas Topping (b. 1745) was born in North Carolina. In 1771 he married Naomi Gaylord. They were the parents of four children. Descendants married into the families of Alligood, brewer, Chilton, Ethridge, Glasgow, Satchwell, Shavender, Sillery, Wiggins, Windley and Winstead.

Thomas Topping (1608-1688) married Emma Aldridge in 1628, and emigrated in 1636 from England to Wethersfield, Connecticut, settling in 1649 in Southampton, Long Island, New York. Descendants lived in New England, New York, New Jersey, Wisconsin, Ohio, Illinois, California and elsewhere. Includes some ancestors in England.
