Dreams of Re-Creation in Jamaica
Diana Cooper-Clark has written a book that uncovers a ‘hidden’ history in the Holocaust narrative. The stories of seventeen Holocaust survivors who escaped to Jamaica and who are among the last eyewitnesses to the Shoah are inspiring. "Sonderbeauftragter des Führers"
Hermann Voss (1884-1969) gehèort zu den profiliertesten deutschen Kunsthistorikern des 20. Jahrhunderts. Leipzig, Berlin, Wiesbaden und Dresden waren Stationen seiner Museumskarriere. Verbunden bleibt sein Name jedoch mit der Tèatigkeit als Sonderbeauftragter Hitlers fèur das "Fèuhrermuseum" in Linz. Dieses Buch untersucht erstmals detailliert das Leben und Wirken des Kunsthistorikers und seine Verstrickung in den nationalsozialistischen Kunstraub, die schon lange vor seiner Ernennung zum "Sonderbeauftragten fèur Linz" begann. Voss hatte bereits als Direktor der Wiesbadener Gemèaldegalerie, deren Leitung er 1935 èubernahm, im Sinne des NS-Staates agiert und von der Beschlagnahme jèudischen Eigentums profitiert. Konsequenzen sollten sich fèur ihn nach Kriegsende daraus nicht ergeben. Voss verstarb 1969 in Mèunchen als geachteter Wissenschaftler und Gemèaldeexperte.

Die achte und neunte Folge von Historie, die zum ersten Mal in einem Doppelband erscheinen, werden von zwei Themen dominiert: „Aufbrüche ̋ und „Finis coronat opus ̋. Der erste Themenschwerpunkt bezieht sich auf die Ereignisgeschichte der unmittelbaren Nachkriegszeit in (Mittel)Europa. Wir beschäftigen uns mit dem Jahr 1945, mit dem, was auf die Einstellung der Kampfhandlungen folgte, und mit der Aufarbeitung dieses Zeitraums in der Historiografie. Im zweiten Themenschwerpunkt geht es um den Abschluss des größten deutsch-polnischen Wissenschaftsprojekts, um die DeutschPolnischen Erinnerungsorte | Polsko-niemieckie miejsca pamięci. Hier wagen wir einen Blick in die Zukunft der Gedächtnisforschung, insbesondere im Hinblick auf eine Didaktisierung und Weiterentwicklung dieses Forschungsgebiets.
