In this book some 50 papers published by K A Mller as author or co-author over several decades, amplified by more recent work mainly by T W Kool with collaborators, are reproduced. The main subject is Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) applied to the study of perovskites and other oxides with related subjects. This wealth of papers is organized into eleven chapters, each with an introductory text written in the light of current understanding. The contributions of the first editor on structural phase transitions have been immense, and because K A Mller and J C Fayet have published a review paper on the subject, the latter is reproduced in chapter VII. Not related to EPR is a part of ch...
Science and art of crystal growth represent an interdisciplinary activity based on fundamental principles of physics, chemistry and crystallography. Crystal growth has contributed over the years essentially to a widening of knowledge in its basic disciplines and has penetrated practically into all fields of experimental natural sciences. It has acted, more over, in a steadily increasing manner as a link between science and technology as can be seen best, for example, from the achievements in modern microelectronics. The aim of the course "Crystal Growth in Science and Technology" being to stress the interdisciplinary character of the subject, selected fundamental principles are reviewed in t...
This volume is the twelfth classified bibliography of organic, organometallic and metal complex crystal structures prepared by the Cambridge Crystallographic Data Centre and published jointly with the International Union of Crystallo graphy. The previous eleven volumes covered the years 1935-79; the present volume provides references principally to structure analyses reported in the literature during 1979 and 1980. A few structures reported prior to 1979 and omitted from earlier volumes are also inc1uded here. Vo1ume 12 contains 3929 references to 3836 distinct chemica1 compounds with 1939 cross-reference entries. During 1979-80 some 90% of references were obtained via direct in-house scanni...
Vol. 6 includes index-digest, v. 1-6.
Preface Open angle glaucoma (OAG) is one of the leading causes of impaired vision worldwide. The pathogenesis of glaucomatous optic neuropathy remains poorly understood, and several pathogenic mechanisms are proposed to coexist. As the world population ages, OAG will become more prevalent and advances in the diagnosis and treatment of glaucomatous optic neuropathy are important to protect and improve the quality of life of our aging population. Treatment of OAG has been directed at lowering intraocular pressure (IOP) which is the only current therapeutic strategy available to patients with glaucoma. While a wide variety of studies have demonstrated that lowering IOP decreases the risk of gla...
