First published in 1985. This volume contains papers presented at two symposia in honor and memory of the late Herman A. Witkin. One symposium, Style in Cognition and Culture, was organized by Seymour Wapner and took place at the Eastern Psychological Association Meetings in Hartford, Connecticut, April 11, 1980. The second symposium, La Dipendenza dal Campo, was organized by Mario Bertini and Luigi Pizzamiglio and took place at the Institute of Psychology, University of Rome, Italy, November 28-29, 1980.

Development and Structure of the Body Image
First published in 1986. This is volume 2 of Development and Structure o f the Body Image. Volume 1 presents a thorough review and analysis of the body image literature from 1969. The present volume details, in the main, research concerned with testing and evaluating a number of major theoretical concepts relating to body image which I have developed. The following major topics are considered: organization of the body image boundary; assignment of meaning to specific body areas; general body awareness; and distortions in body perception. The bibliography for all the work described in the two volumes is contained in this second volume.
Strengths of the Disadvantaged
Based on the author’s doctoral dissertation, the book makes an emphatic plea for a strength-based educational strategy for disadvantaged primary grade children. In this context it focusses on some cognitive and socio-emotional strengths of these children and suggests ways in which these can be capitalized upon in the teaching-learning situation to make the learning process more effective for them. A highlight of the book is a stimulating foreword by the internationally acknowledged, eminent Indian psychologist, Prof. Durganand Sinha. Other highlights include an exhaustive review of researches both from India and abroad on six major variables—field dependence, creativity, visual modality preference, cooperation, dependency and delay of gratification which provides excellent resource material for researchers and students of Child Development and Educational Psychology. Also of interest are a set of informative case studies of two contrasting groups of high and low achieving children from the resettlement colonies of Delhi which offer revealing insights regarding priorities in child rearing and their relationship with school achievement.
