The LNCS journal Transactions on Rough Sets is devoted to the entire spectrum of rough sets related issues, from logical and mathematical foundations, through all aspects of rough set theory and its applications, such as data mining, knowledge discovery, and intelligent information processing, to relations between rough sets and other approaches to uncertainty, vagueness, and incompleteness, such as fuzzy sets and theory of evidence.This fifth volume of the Transactions on Rough Sets is dedicated to the monumental life, work and creative genius of Zdzis{l}aw Pawlak, the originator of rough sets, who passed away in April 2006. It opens with a commemorative article that gives a brief coverage of Pawlak's works in rough set theory, molecular computing, philosophy, painting and poetry. Fifteen papers explore the theory of rough sets in various domains as well as new applications of rough sets. In addition, this volume of the TRS includes a complete monograph on rough sets and approximate Boolean reasoning systems that includes both the foundations as well as applications of data mining.

This first volume of the Transactions on Rough Sets opens with an introductory article by Zdzislaw Pawlak, the originator of rough sets. The LNCS journal Transactions on Rough Sets is devoted to the entire spectrum of rough sets related issues, from logical and mathematical foundations, through all aspects of rough set theory and its applications, such as data mining, knowledge discovery, and intelligent information processing, to relations between rough sets and other approaches to uncertainty, vagueness, and incompleteness, such as fuzzy sets and theory of evidence. This third volume of the Transactions on Rough Sets presents 11 revised papers that have been through a careful peer reviewing process by the journal's Editorial Board. The research monograph "Time Complexity of Decision Trees" by Mikhail Ju. Moshkov is presented in the section on dissertation and monographs. Among the regular papers the one by Zdzislaw Pawlak entitled "Flow Graphs and Data Mining" deserves a special mention.
Sustainable Human Resource Management
Predictions are that sustainability becomes the next big topic for Human Resource Management after internationalization and globalization. Econometric Modelling of European Money Demand
The introduction of a single European currency constitutes a remarkable instance of internationalization of monetary policy. Whether a concomitant internationalization can be detected also in the econometric foundations of monetary policy is the problem dealt with in this book. Its basic theoretical ingredients comprise a data-driven approach to econometric modelling and a generalized approach to cross-sectional aggregation. The resulting econometric model systematically combines statistical and economic theory by extending a cointegrated VAR into a structural ECM. The empirical outcome is a data-consistent causal money demand function, isolated within a properly identified dynamic macroeconomic system for Europe.
Struggling for Leadership: Antwerp-Rotterdam Port Competition between 1870 –2000
The present volume contains the proceedings of an international conference on the economic history of the seaports of Antwerp and Rotterdam (1870-2000). This venue was held at Antwerp on 10-11 May 2001 and was hosted by the Antwerp Port Authority. This international conference aimed at confronting the development of both ports. In the course of the last century and a half, economic growth in the ports of Antwerp and Rotterdam has been staggering. Maritime economic historians, economists and geographers alike have investigated the development of both ports extensively, but separately. So far, only a limited number of attempts have been made to analyse Rotterdam-Antwerp port history from a comparative perspective. The papers presented at the conference provide a challenging starting point to - certain how and why both ports reacted differently to virtually the same economic and political stimuli. By bringing together both historians, economists and lawyers with different fields of interest, we have attempted to put the history of the ports of Antwerp and Rotterdam in a broader international and comparative perspective.
